really costs in India.
The one-time price, the monthly bill that follows it, GST, warranty, EMI, and the insurance answer nobody wants to give. Written by the doctor who will programme the pump, not by the company that sells it.

Families ask for the total, so here it is, using the indicative figures above and the four-year warranty as the horizon.

Set against that: fewer units of insulin each day, fewer finger-prick strips, and, for many families, the end of the 2 am checks. Only you can put a value on the last item. We will not pretend the pump is cost-effective by Indian health-economic standards, because published analyses put it far above the usual national thresholds. What we can do is tell you honestly whether it is the right spend for your child, or whether a CGM alone would buy more safety per rupee.

Ask about EMI first, not last
Zero-interest schemes come and go. Ask what is live now, in writing, before the sale is agreed, because the terms are harder to open afterwards.
Budget the consumables, not the pump
The pump is paid once. The ₹15,000 a month is forever. If that line does not fit the household budget, a pump is the wrong purchase, however good the discount on the box.
Do not buy abroad or second-hand
The warranty ends on transfer, Indian service and supply stop, and you are alone with a life-critical device. The saving is not worth it.
Consider CGM alone
Information is what prevents most disasters. A sensor, even part-time, costs a fraction of a pump and is the right first step for many families. If that is the honest answer for yours, you will hear it.
Talk to your insurer anyway
Expect a no, but ask in writing. If you receive a yes, please tell us. It would be useful for every other family who asks.

How much does the MiniMed 780G insulin pump cost in India?
About ₹6.5 lakh for the pump system with its starter kit, as of August 2026. Medtronic India does not publish a list price, so treat any figure online, including this one, as indicative and get a written quotation from the authorised distributor before you decide.
What is the monthly running cost of an insulin pump?
Plan for roughly ₹15,000 a month for infusion sets, reservoirs and CGM sensors together. Sensors are the largest part of that. Insulin itself often costs less than before, because pump users generally need fewer units.
Does health insurance in India cover an insulin pump?
Almost never. Indian indemnity policies pay for hospitalisation, and an outpatient device purchase does not create a claimable event. Ask your insurer in writing before assuming otherwise.
Is EMI available for an insulin pump?
Usually. Medtronic India has historically offered 0% EMI schemes, and distributors commonly arrange credit-card EMI over three to twelve months. Terms change, so we confirm what is live at the time you buy.
Is there a government scheme or free pump in Telangana?
There is no pump package under Ayushman Bharat that we have identified. A published study from NIMS Hyderabad describes pumps supplied free under a state programme to eligible patients, but the programme is not named and we cannot confirm its current status. Separately, Gandhi Hospital's Centre of Excellence in Endocrinology has dispensed free analogue insulin monthly, which reduces recurring costs whichever route you take.
Can I buy a cheaper insulin pump from abroad or second-hand?
We advise strongly against it. The warranty ends on transfer between users, Indian service and consumable supply are lost, and you would be depending on a device with no local support. Buy through the authorised Indian channel or not at all.
Is a CGM alone a reasonable alternative if the pump is too expensive?
Often, yes. A continuous glucose monitor, even worn part-time, gives the information that prevents most dangerous lows and highs, at a fraction of the cost. For many families this is the honest first step, and we will say so.
What does the clinic charge for starting a pump?
Consultations are ₹400 each. Caspian is not a Medtronic distributor and takes no margin on the pump or consumables; the device is bought directly from the authorised distributor. Our role is assessment, programming, training and follow-up.
